Register of Deeds

Kathryn A. Toomey was sworn into office in January 2019 as the 10th Register to serve the District, the first new Register in over 40 years as well as the first female Register.

A native of Holden, Kathryn attended Wachusett High School. She spent her undergraduate years between UMass-Amherst, University of Hawaii, and abroad for international programs in France. Additionally, Kathryn graduated from Suffolk University Law School in 2000 and is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Prior to her election as Register, Kathryn opened her own firm in downtown Worcester, specializing in real estate law.

Ms. Toomey currently resides in Worcester, Massachusetts and is fully committed to effectively serving the needs of the communities making up the 55 cities and towns that make up the District.

Welcome to the Worcester District Registry of Deeds. The Registry of Deeds maintains the real and personal property records of fifty-five cities and towns of Worcester County from 1731 through today.

Our mission is to accurately and securely record the property records of our constituent cities and towns in a professional, convenient and cost-efficient manner. We strive to accomplish our mission by employing the latest technology and innovative work-stream processing.

We are also dedicated to protecting the interests of the homeowners of Worcester County. We hope that you take advantage of our many resources designed to help homeowners protect their investment, homestead declaration forms and seminars on foreclosures and reverse-mortgages hosted at the Registry of Deeds.
