Notary Public

Notary Public Services Available

The Registry is only permitted to notarize Declaration of Homestead documents. You may come to either our Springfield or Westfield locations during our normal hours (Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.). Please bring your unsigned Declaration of Homestead along with a form of photo identification issued by a government agency (such as a driver’s license or passport). We gladly offer this service free of charge.

Expiring Notary Commission

If you are currently a Notary and your commission is expiring, you can renew your Notary right here at the Hampden County Registry of Deeds. Approximately sixty days before your commission expires, you should fill out the Notary Renewal Application and pay the $60.00 renewal fee to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Please contact the Secretary of the Commonwealths Office for details.

When this process is complete you will receive an appointment certificate. Bring the certificate of appointment with you to the Hampden Registry of Deeds and we will administer the Notary Oath (note: you must take the oath within 90 days of your appointment date). We require an appointment, although we are able to accommodate same day service. Our notary service is free of charge.
