Notary Public & Oath of Office

Administration of Oath of Office

We administer oaths of office for newly appointed or renewing Notaries and others required to take an oath IN GREATER LOWELL. If you live elsewhere, there are many places around the Commonwealth where you may take your oath.

If you wish to take your oath here at the Registry of Deeds in the Lowell Justice Center, please call 978-322-9000 to make an appointment. You must have paid your $60 fee and received your Notary Certificate signed by the Governor before you may make an appointment.

Notary Public Services Not Available

The Registry of Deeds does not notarize documents. Documents should be notarized before dropping them at the registry for recording.

ATTENTION: ALL NOTARIES
A journal to record notarial acts, which the Governor’s Executive Order 455 suggests you keep for recordkeeping purposes, may be purchased at the State Bookstore in Room 116 of the State House, at various retail office supply stores, or on the Secretary of State website at  www.sec.state.ma.us/spr/sprcat/agencies/950.htm
