Foreclosure Reports

Each month the registry of deeds posts a “foreclosure report” which shows all Orders of Notice that were recorded for that month. When a foreclosure commences in Massachusetts, the foreclosing lender must comply with the Service Members Civil Relief Act which provides some protection to homeowners serving on active duty in the military who face foreclosure. The sole purpose of the Service Members’ action is to determine whether the homeowner/lender is in the military. As part of this action, the Court issues an Order of Notice that must be recorded at the registry of deeds. While not every Order of Notice results in a foreclosure sale, Orders of Notice are a good indicator that a foreclosure action has commenced.

Our report is organized by town and includes the property address, date, and book and page numbers of each Order of Notice.
