As of the\u00a02020 census, the\u00a0population\u00a0was 1,632,002,<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Middlesex_County,_Massachusetts#cite_note-1\">[1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0making it the most populous county in both Massachusetts and\u00a0New England\u00a0and the\u00a022nd most populous county in the United States. Middlesex County is one of two U.S. counties (along with\u00a0Santa Clara County, California) to be amongst the top 25 counties with the highest household income and the 25 most populated counties. It is included in the Census Bureau&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Boston\">Boston<\/a>\u2013Cambridge\u2013Newton, MA\u2013NH\u00a0Metropolitan Statistical Area.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The county was created by the\u00a0Massachusetts General Court\u00a0on May 10, 1643, when it was ordered that &#8220;the whole\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Massachusetts_Bay_Colony\">plantation<\/a>\u00a0within this jurisdiction be divided into four\u00a0shires.&#8221; Middlesex initially contained\u00a0Charlestown,\u00a0Cambridge,\u00a0Watertown,\u00a0Sudbury,\u00a0Concord,\u00a0Woburn,\u00a0Medford, and\u00a0Reading.<sup>[5]<\/sup>\u00a0In 1649 the first Middlesex County Registry of Deeds was created in Cambridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On April 19, 1775, Middlesex was site of the first armed conflict of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/American_Revolutionary_War\">American Revolutionary War<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1855, the Massachusetts State Legislature created a minor Registry of Deeds for the Northern District of Middlesex County in Lowell.<sup>[5]<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Middlesex South Registry of Deeds in Massachusetts has a long and significant history, reflecting the growth and development of the region. Established in the early days of the Commonwealth, the Registry serves as the official repository for property records, ensuring the accurate and secure recording of land transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Early History<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Foundation<\/strong>: The Registry of Deeds was established to maintain a public record of land ownership and transactions. This was crucial for ensuring legal clarity and security in property ownership.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>18th Century<\/strong>: The Middlesex County was divided into two districts in 1731: Middlesex North and Middlesex South, each with its own registry.
