Our free Consumer Notification Tool<\/strong> launched just over a year ago, offering homeowners a valuable safeguard against scams involving their property.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea emerged from many conversations Register Iannuccillo had with constituents, who asked whether paying a private company for this kind of monitoring was worthwhile. Working with IT experts, Iannuccillo found a way for the Registry to provide this service at no cost. Homeowners can now sign up to have the Registry of Deeds email them an alert any time a property document is recorded in their name.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, every so often we see a case in the news that highlights the need for a service like ours. Here is one recent example from Concord, MA:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A couple residing in another state who owned property in Concord discovered their land was sold by thieves pretending to be them. Using their names, the criminals emailed a local realtor who put the property on the market. The property sold and the thieves made off with over a half million dollars.
