Starting in 1761 the Southern Berkshire Registry of Deeds has had 16 Registrars with Michelle Laramee-Jenny being our current Registrar.

The Southern Berkshire Registry of Deeds is a recording office and research library for land transactions in Southern Berkshire. Documents for both Recorded and Registered Land recorded here are related to the ownership of real estate within our district. Examples of such documents include, but are not limited to, deeds, mortgages, easements, liens, takings, as well as property survey plans and subdivision plans.

The Southern Berkshire Registry of Deeds has records dating back to 1761 and the public has access to them all. You can also view our Colonial Records Proprietary Plans that traces the beginning of our districts towns. Our staff is happy to assist customers in finding relevant documents, and the registry has a searchable index that contains the names of all parties related to a document and the property address. Recorded documents are assigned a sequential identifying number depending on the type of real estate (such as a book/page reference or a document/certificate number) and are then scanned into the registry’s computer system. After scanning, the images are available to view and/or print* from public access terminals at the registry and at your home or office over the Internet.

In addition to our recording and research, our office also offers Notary services

The Berkshire South County Registry of Deeds is proud to offer a free notification tool, which alerts homeowners by email when a new document is recorded in their name. If you own real estate in Berkshire South County, use the link below to create an account, and then register up to 3 properties.
